Ross Wickers
I visited Mr.Wickers Physical Education blog. He talks about how he is always searching for new innovating strategies. He is in the process of developing a newsletter on all the information that he comes across via twitter, as well as the information that he gets from his colleagues. His first issue of the newsletter focuses on the 10 great lesson series. I commented that I enjoyed the article, as well as wished him luck on his newsletter.

My final visit to this blog post was on March 21, 2014. Mr. Ross did not have a new post. He is an physical education teacher, so Im guessing he has been busy finding more new and innovating things that can help children in the school systems. I have noticed that Mr. Ross is very successful with his newsletters. I had the pleasure of reading his first issue. It's really nice.

On April 7, 2014 I looked at a student in Mrs. Jacobsen's class named Zack. He is a 5 year,8 year old from Pt. England. Zack gave information about flax snails. I commented that I would love to learn more about these snails, because they seemed cool.

On April 20, 2014 I viewed a student in Mrs.She's class named Efa-Lata she goes to Pt.England School in Auckland New Zealand. Efa-Lata told how she and her mother visited the zoo over the weekend. She stated that she saw lots of animals, and ate Burger King. I asked Efa-Lata what were her favorite animals at the zoo? I also told her what my favorite animals were, and told her that she did a great job on her podcast.

What did Dr. Strange leave out?
This is what I thinks should be included.
Watch the video Whole Brain Teaching Look at the different ways that chris teaches his middle school class the basics. How could this work in your classroom? Give your perspective on The Whole Brain Teaching. Write using a quality blog post.

Chris Biffle gives the classroom a chance on how to use their whole brain in his classroom. This technique is very interesting to me. This can be used to help teach classroom rules as well as math concepts. This technique is a bit noisy, but I'm sure once the other instructors see the progress that my students are making in my classroom, they too will adapt the technique. As I watched other videos on YouTube. One teacher taught her children a math rule. PLEASE EXCUSE MY DEAR AUNT SALLY. The first letter of each word helps the students remember the math rules of P- Parentheses E-exponent M-multiply D-divide A-add S-subtract. This is cool because once that algebra question asks what operation should you do first? The students will remember this and perform the problem correctly.
I can remember one that has always stuck with me. To remember the directions on the compass my teacher would say N-never E-eat S-shredded W-wheat. I knew North was always on top, and I would remember that "trick" she taught me, and passed my compass test. I will definitely try and use this in my classroom. It seems as though the children were having fun while learning.

What is Assistive Technology?

Assistive Technology is any item, piece of equipment, software, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Different disabilities require different assistive technologies.
Assistive technology includes products, and services, to help people who have difficulty speaking, typing, writing, remembering, pointing, seeing, hearing, learning, walking, etc.
There are some resources that I found that can be useful to me in assistive technology. The National Center for learning Disabilities gives 13 free resources that parents as well as educators can use. There is information on what can be done for students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties. These tools can help students get a better understanding on the information that they are trying to process.
Watching the video Understanding Assistive Technology gives you the simple information on how (AT) is used. I know as a future educator, I will have students that may have disabilities that require me to adjust my teaching techniques to help them better understand the material that I will be presenting. It is my job to communicate with the school staff as well as parents to ensure that this is done properly. There are lots of (AT) devices that can help with this process, it just takes one small step to make a HUGE difference.

C4K ( March)

image of C4K This month I had the pleasure of visiting Jazelle She is a very talented student that gave great instructions on how to work out a math problem. The steps that she used were very detailed. She also gave a slide show of the steps. I commented that she did an awesome job on her blog post.
I also had the pleasure to visit Kyal's blog post also. Kyal is an eight year student at Pt. England School. He did a post on Sketch up Writing example. Kyal talks about all the things that can be created using this technique. I commented that I could only imagine the great things that he could create.

C4T Teacher #3 Summary

This week I viewed the blog of Wesley Fryer In this post he talks about how he is teaching his 4-5 graders in his STEM class how to use scratch software to create projects. This technique uses coding and the students a have the ability to "remix" their work using this software.I think this is a very neat thing to do. The students all have done great creative work with the software. This is something that I could possibly use in my future classroom.
